LA has medieval history!

I know I'm not the only one who thinks that Southern California lacks real, well, you know, culture. Especially historical culture. I walk into any big abbey at Evensong in England and I'm greeted with the most awesome choral music ever. I just can't find that anywhere in LA. But every once in a while I am pleasantly surprised... took a trip to the Getty yesterday to check out the Da Vinci exhibit - which closes on June 20, so you'd better hurry if you want to go - and while I was there I stopped at the Medieval Old Testament exhibit.

If you're in SoCal, I highly recommend you make the trek to the 405 to see this exhibition. The pages are stunning. Plus, there's a new area devoted to household decorative items of the Renaissance. Man, the North Pavilion is my idea of heaven!!

Where was the Battle of Bosworth Field?

I'm catching up on my podcasts tonight and am listening to this one from the BBC History Magazine from March 2010. If you don't subscribe, or are as behind in your subscriptions as I am, it's worth a listen. There's a whole section on archeologists doing work to find out where Bosworth Field is (the Battle of Bosworth Field is where Henry VII defeated Richard III and began the Tudor Dynasty).

Facebook Page!

If you're on Facebook, check out the page I started for this blog. Yep, I'm keeping my promise to update more often, do more episodes, etc. I just got done with this super-intensive 7 month leadership course that kicked my butt, but took up tons of time. Now that it's over, I'm free to podcast more! Yippeee! So check it out - become a fan, and let's get some discussion of Renaissance stuff going on!
